You Need to Consider What Your New Normal Looks Like.

During Covid, I was able to keep up with my writing class on Saturday mornings through Zoom. It is a class I would regularly do over Zoom as the instructor lives in Pennsylvania and the other students are from all across the USA. I am the token Canadian.

I also have kept up with my editing classes every Thursday at 11 am with my friend and mentor. We do this on Messenger. Soon we will do this in person every other time and then continue on Messenger when it is convenient.

The writers' group at the local library was canceled for the last two years. Going back to this wasn’t easy, but it was helpful as there were a lot of new people in the group. I went to the first meeting and it felt weird.

They were decades younger than me and they brought a different style and opinion to the class. I was used to the people that regularly gave opinions on my work. Getting used to criticism from a whole new group of people is hard. When they all have the same concerns you’d best be listening. It’s not easy to go back to biweekly criticism, but go you must.
