While I never read Anne of Green Gables, my all time favourite book was The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery. As an early teen, I fell in love with Valancy as she thought she was ugly, had this overbearing mother and did not have a husband at the dismal age of 29! How could one not relate? This is where the story starts. I haven’t read it in a very long time, perhaps it is time to read it again.

Montgomery also used misplaced modifiers and it really made me laugh. Even at that age. ie-

“Where did the dog bite her?”

“Just below the Catholic Church”

So much fun.
