What Are We Accomplishing?
We can’t always tell until later.
Sometimes we have helped only to feel what was the point? After trying our best it does not seem either wanted or appreciated. We end up saying how we’ve wasted our time.
Last year
I helped at the flu vaccine clinic yesterday. We were fortunate to have two pharmacists giving the shots this year instead of just one. Last year both came but one drew up the vaccine and had it ready for the other pharmacist to give. This was done while the first pharmacist check the form making sure everything was there.
This year both pharmacists checked the forms and then gave the shots. Also, this was the second year they have run the clinic for us, and know how it goes. This meant no line ups. People were even called to come early. When you only have to walk less than five minutes it’s easy enough to do.
Most were waiting at home for their turn before going out for errands etc. So they were happy to come a little early. Numerous residents, however, added their names at the last minute.
My neighbor, Sheila, and I had decided that we would do it this year but it was the last time. It was not a lot of fun last year when people were not happy at having to wait in lineups especially outside. Of course, it was raining, it’s October.
