Want to Have Some Fun on The Weekend?

Try watching the kids play, then get out yourself!

Both my granddaughters play soccer. One is 6 years old and the other is 3 years old. I hope they have fun playing soccer, but they won’t come by any natural skills from my side of the family. We work hard to master the game but as far as natural talent, we don’t have it.

Their mother, however, does. Not only was she a ranked runner in high school but is working on track and field now. She has an effortless (looking) stride and a determined mindset. Both equally needed to compete in that sport.

Granddaughter #1

Author’s Granddaughter #1 at soccer.

The first is six years old and is also taking Taekwondo and cheerleading. While we watch her series of mini-games, she is supposed to have her head in the game. She is frequently practicing cheerleading moves instead. She must be told a dozen times eyes on the ball and help your teammates. She comes off the field with a smile on her face saying “Did you see me play grandma?”

Both sets of grandparents are on the field, and since Covid 19 restrictions have been lifted for children’s sports, we are all back at each…
