Knowing that people are out there that will mock your post or mock you for your thoughts is rather repugnant. I said to you once that you should just consider the source of the remarks and realize these are people that get off on being mean. I also felt that the reason you might get these remarks is because of your success and you should ignore them.

I have changed my mind about that advice. For one thing, I hadn’t experienced it myself (probably because I have not been successful in my writing yet). Secondly, I recently was in a writing group and after reading out my chapter I had two young women say they felt what I wrote was racist. Everyone else felt it was totally not racist. I should have taken my own advice and ignored them but you know I was only focusing on what they said. This, of course, in no way equates with suicidal ideation but I think writing about how you struggle and what you do to help yourself is important and needs to be written. Not reading the comments is probably a good way to deal with trolls.
