Butter Tart — Oh My!
My mum used to bake butter tarts. Oh my God, they were good. She would make her own pastry as most women did in those days. You need to have tender hands when working with pastry, but it takes time.
My mum always made pastry and it was good. Unfortunately, I never learned how and the fact is, now I don’t really want to spend the time to learn. I am not prepared to have crappy pastry before I get better. Now I have no one to eat it. All my sons have left home (and no they didn’t leave home due to my baking)!
Back in the day, you could buy premade pastry but it really wasn’t very good. Now, however, the pre-made pastry is excellent. Not only that but the butter tart’s best part is in the pastry.
If you don’t do a lot of baking and really would like to have people admire what you bring to the party, here is the thing to bring.
It is old fashion but you can’t beat it. Everyone loves them. There is only one controversy. Do you make it plain or do you add raisins or walnuts? Everyone has an opinion. What is yours?
