Hi Shaunta

My mum developed dementia and was reluctant to leave my sisters house. She was a gentle loving woman. My sister had been woken up several times a night for months, while she was still working, to find mum calling out and not sure where she was and scared. Mum didn’t want to go to a care center and my sister was reluctant to make her go. Luckily, one night mum came upstairs calling for my sister and had a period of being totally lucid and said, “We both know it’s time to have me be in a home. The way we are going is not good.” Both had a good cry and the next day they put in motion having a place for mum.

Mum was in a dementia care house for 20 months and in that time as her dementia progressed her personality changed. She became a loud, angry woman. It was a hard time.

The fact that this is your mother in law probably makes it harder for you. You will be in my thoughts and prayer.
