While I think I will take your idea of sending love letters to those we care about, I was more impressed that you kept your friend in your heart despite her wanting to be alone. Sometimes, we are hurt by our friends and loved ones. True friends and loved ones are to be loved despite how they may appear to be acting. You knew her pain and dismissal weren't about you. Perhaps the cancer changed her personality. She needed your acceptance even more.
