Growing and making candied ginger is as much fun as being a castaway!

This spring, I learned how to make scones from the legendary Martha Stewart. Not in person, of course, but from a recipe my son’s mother-in-law sent me. Thanks Deloree. Close enough.

Scones

I decided to add different things to my scones. After all, they are my scones. So instead of lemon rind and poppy seed, I added candied ginger, raisins, craisins, and pumpkin seeds.

They were great. Who knew Martha knew what she was talking about?

I made them quite a few times, and they were great every time.

Then the worse happened. The supermarkets said they ran out of candied ginger due to … you guessed it, supply chain issues.

That is the standard answer for anything missing in the stores, and we all nod knowingly. Right.

Ginger

I love ginger and plan to grow this in my garage this spring. YouTube told me this was the best time to plant this. Easy and, more importantly, cheap.

The problem is that I will need candied ginger for all my Christmas baking. Did you know that since today is Aug 30th, we have only 117…
