Excellent article.

I had all three sons by C-section. My first (1981) was almost 2 weeks late, and even with the Pit Drip, I did not have any contractions. At the last minute, the baby flipped and was breech. After a quick x-ray, they saw he had a rather large head. We had a c-section without a general anesthetic but an epidural. He was a healthy happy baby.

When I became pregnant with son #2, the ob/gyn said he recommended another c-section, but if we wanted, we could try a vaginal birth as long as we knew he would be taking us up for a c-section if trouble ensued.

We talked and decided we didn't want to take a chance on our baby's health and would take our doctor's recommendation. Baby #2 and #3 were delivered healthy and happy.

I recovered from the surgeries as fast if not faster than mums with regular deliveries.

A regular delivery should be done if it is the healthiest option for the baby and mother. I have heard people say they didn't feel they were complete and were cheated out of a "natural birth'. The only way I would have been cheated is if my decision wouldn't allow me a healthy baby.

Thank you for your article.
