I read an article recently that talked briefly about being a polymath. I had heard about this, but couldn’t remember what a polymath was. In the middle of the article, I stopped and looked this up. And down the rabbit hole, I fell.

According to Wikipedia, a polymath is an individual whose knowledge spans a substantial number of subjects, known to draw on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems.

I think of using both sides of our brain. Both left and right.

Most of us think we are one or the other. We imagine the nerdy scientist or the creative painter. It is hard to believe they could be the same person.

One of the first polymaths I think of is Leonardo da Vinci. Not only was he a famous painter and a sculptor but he was a genius in so many other areas. He was a mathematician, scientist, architect, musician, and the list goes on. This is such an exciting idea. I read of people at a high level of achievement in many different areas.

Hedy Lamarr

Starting with Hedy Lamarr, an old-style movie star from the 40s. Not only was she beautiful, and a famous movie star but she helped invent WiFi and GPS!
