A New Year, New Expectations.

Let's start with cautious optimism.

As I write this, at the beginning of a new year, I hope we can have an appreciation of what we had before Covid, when we begin to start again without this pandemic.

I love the beginning of a new year. It is always full of hope and expectation of better things for me.

This year is a little dimmer. After the last year we had, I feel just when we feel things will get better, someone will pull the rug out from under my feet.

Just over a year ago I was asked for the third time if I would be able to go to work in some capacity as a nurse. I had retired three years previously. They said that I could be a contact investigator and that would allow me to help out but not be involved with the public directly. I agreed and since then I have worked twice a week doing 11-hour shifts.

This December 20th I turned 70 years old. Pretty significant time in one’s life, if you are lucky enough to make it that far. I started with a free Starbucks Cookie and bought a couple of extra that I shared with the walking ladies from my complex.

Next, I went to a golf course that had lunch with three of my nursing school classmates. Lots of laughter. My husband drove me there and picked me up so I could drink if I wanted to. Next up was…
